Good Evening Lovelies!
I have been so busy adjusting to Israel and my new amazing life here. It is more beautiful than I imagined here. I have gotten my room set up and have started my classes. This kibbutz is so different than what I am used to at home. Our schedules here are very busy. I feel like we are always moving.
My usual schedule is as follows: wakeup, morning run, get ready, breakfast, Jewish history class, Hebrew class, lunch, 3 general studies classes, a short break, 2 more classes, a quick dinner, announcements, and then the rest of the night off to do homework, run, shower, hangout with friends and so on. I am taking 8 classes on Sundays and Thursdays and all other school days I will be taking 7 classes.
Prepare for the next paragraph to be my beliefs...
My classes are very interesting. My longest class is my Jewish History class. It is about 3 hours a day I believe. Today in Jewish History we discussed "Imagined Realities". There are many imagined realities but the most interesting to me is that religion can be considered an imagined reality. We talked about how religion is an imagined reality. This is when humans all agree to make believe in something and make it a reality. In my opinion humans all agree to believe in a god or gods for comfort. Our religions are to shelter us from the real world and keep us safe but that doesn't mean it is actually true. We make this imagined reality as security blankets. Anyways thanks for listening to my opinions! Have a lovely evening! <3
That sounds awesome Shoshana! as if you go on 2 runs a day D: I can barely get out of bed, haha what is Israel like? like what does it look like? haha xx Miss you!!
ReplyDeleteSyd! I miss you too! How is Tokyo??? Yea def not two runs a day, but some running haha... Israel is crazy beautiful and warm and just lovely. But lots of school...
Deleteoh if it were only that easy! to have a nice security blanket called religion. I think that the world, the "real world" is not real at all. The physical world we know is only an "illusion". this has been in mystical thought in many traditions throughout the world. This world is the illusion, the Imagined group reality. The world of the spirit is the real world where there are no constraints on what we have to believe. Only in our physical world, does time and space exist. Time and space must be agreed upon in order for us to inhabit this physical plane. Believing in haShem is not easy, not comfortable and it is actually more difficult to believe in "him" than it is not to believe in him. But this took me many years to arrive at this point. Shalom my dear daughter. I am happy your days are full and your mind is active. Love you forever and Shabbat Shalom. Mom
ReplyDeleteBelief in Gd is a good security blanket. Since I have believed in Gd I have increased my faith (emunah). In emunah I can believe that everything happens for a reason in this life and that Gd is a loving Gd who has a plan for each of our lives. It does create a sense of order and security in life, instead of feeling that things are terrible and life makes no sense and we are at the mercy of the whims of nature and other humans. I believe we are creatures that are created in the image of haShem, that is with love. We are here to learn the life lesson that Gd gives us and to love and to experience joy. I am grateful for life, for health, for love, for beauty, for the good people Gd has placed in my life. I guess this Jewish group reality of Gd is one that suits me very well. Shalom and peace.
